The role of CMC in the pharmaceutical industry:

 

1.Adhesive bonding. CMC, due to its good viscosity, can serve as an adhesive, effectively promoting the bonding between drug particles, improving the hardness and toughness of tablets, and making them less prone to breakage during storage and transportation.

4.Film formation. CMC can be used as a coating material for tablets, forming a smooth and uniform thin film. This film can protect the drug from external environmental factors such as humidity, oxygen, and light damage, thereby extending the shelf life of the drug. At the same time, it can also control the release rate of drugs, allowing them to be released at a predetermined rate in the body, improving the efficacy and safety of drugs.
